Pixies to play Des Moines summer show
(Some Content Courtesy: DSM Register)
The Pixies are coming to Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines this summer.
Tickets for the July 3 show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Prices range from $52 to $82, plus fees.
The Pixies broke out more than 30 years ago with their 1988 debut
album “Surfer Rosa,” which includes “Where is My Mind?” — one of the
band’s signature songs. They released three other studio albums and
performed sold-out world arena tours before disbanding in 1993.
The band reunited in 2004. Their sixth studio album “Head Carrier” was released Sept. 30, 2016.
The Pixies influenced several alternative rock bands that defined the
late ’80s and early ’90s, including U2, Radiohead, Nirvana and Alice in
Chains. They are co-headlining a summer tour with famed rock band Weezer, though that dual show is not making a stop in Iowa.
Tickets for the Hoyt Sherman Place show can be purchased at the box
office, located at 1501 Woodland Ave., charged by phone at 800-745-3000
or online at ticketmaster.com.

New Feature: Suzanne's Big Life: Q & A
Announcing a new semi-regular MusicArtLife feature: Suzanne's Big Life Q & A! Pithy reflections by our beloved Suzanne, one of our favorite people, and also one of the funniest. Here we go!
A: Well the Devil’s band had a HELL of a solid rhythm section, and honestly I think Johnny won primarily because the Devil wanted to offload a useless 300 pound golden fiddle. I mean how can you even play it?
Q: Also, for being the Prince of Darkness, he gave up pretty quickly. This guy has a reputation for raining hell upon the souls of the damned for all eternity, and Johnny pukes out some stupid lyrics and this guy just shrugs and says "damn"? I'm suspicious
A: I really feel like this whole thing was organized by Johnny’s mom to boost his confidence.
