We Love The Nitty Gritties
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is playing the Surf Ballroom tonight (tickets still available, as far as we know), as part
of their 5OTH ANNIVERSARY tour, complete with a PBS special! Once you
wrap your elderly head around that information, have a look at this: http://www.nittygritty.com/anniversary
Facebook Shout-Out This Week: TJ Skinner!
A big MusicArtLife shout-out to TJ Skinner, who correctly identified the purpose of these little jewels, as seen on our Facebook page. Here's what TJ had to say about them: "These
are instruments to allow us to play our 45s on the new, groovy 3-speed
stereo system...place them in the 45 record hole (they "click into
place"), they fit on the spindle and they play 45s miraculously on the
33 1/3 -45-78 turntable...you can amaze your friends and get Martian or
Alien sounds by playing those 45s at a 78 speed or groovy slow-mo vocals
by playing 45s at 33 1/3 speed! Nothing but home made fun!" We like the way you think, TJ!

Shooter Jennings Plays the Jammin' on I-35 Festival
Shooter Jennings & Waymore's Outlaws
The only son of country legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, Shooter Jennings literally spent his childhood on a tour bus. Born Waylon Albright Jennings, Shooter was playing drums by the time he was five years old and had already begun taking piano lessons, only to break them off and follow his own path to an understanding of the instrument. He discovered guitar at 14 and rock & roll (particularly Southern rock and the loose-limbed hard rock of Guns N' Roses) at 16. Soon he moved from Nashville to L.A., where he assembled a rock band called Stargunn. Stargunn earned a strong local reputation for its live shows, and enjoyed a six- or seven-year run on the L.A. circuit before Jennings rediscovered his outlaw country roots and dissolved the band.
Bring a lawn chair, grab your friends and enjoy this FREE outdoor concert, at 6:00 pm July 30, 2016, in the outdoor venue at Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood.

TRAIN WRECK WINERY'S MARQUETTE WINS GOLD!
A Top 10 Gold Medal Winning Red Wine!
We are very proud to announce our Marquette
(dry red wine) was selected as one of the best red wines at the
Mid-American Wine Competition. Internationally recognized wine experts
judged wines from 19 states last weekend in this preeminent Midwest wine
competition. Train Wreck Winery's Marquette wine is only
available at the tasting room in Algona. Stop by and taste for
yourself!
HOOTERVILLE EXPRESS!
TRY OUR NEW WINE:
Hooterville Express is a sweet red wine dedicated to helping stamp out
breast cancer, the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women.
We have breast cancer survivors in our family. The bad news: this year
approximately 40,000 women will die from the disease. The good news this
rate is dropping every year due to improvements in detection and
treatment. Improving survival rates takes research and research costs
money. So Train Wreck Winery will donate two research dollars for every
retail bottle of Hooterville Express we sell.
