My Column, April 2018 ~ by Bruce Wasenius

It's the first of May, just like that a third of the year has passed. Time flies even if you're retired or have a lot of time off. The last of the miserable snow is gone and the golf course is open, sure signs that Spring has finally arrived.
I can't really say that the past 40 years living in North Iowa have sped by but it amazes me when I think about it. Way more than half my years have been spent here in a part of the country that I would never guessed.
The opportunities I have been blessed to have been given and the life I lead are something I would never have imagined. People talk about "bucket lists", there's not a lot more I could ask for. I hoped to have silver hair halfway down my back and still be on the air at 70. I pretty much have that nailed. I have had a fan club and been nominated for a Hall of Fame, lots of Facebook friends, have a fun job that only takes up a small part if my time.
As the song goes "I've got rhythm, I've got music, I've got my girl who could ask for anything more?"
The best part though, still, is getting that call on the air from someone excited about a song I played and what meaning it had to them.
It's true, I'm selfish, it makes me happy to do it.
As usual I am looking forward to the days ahead and whatever may come.
Have a happy month. Don't forget to check out the whole site and the daily Songs of the Day.

They're HOW Old?!

Sweet Judy Blue Eyes herself, Judy Collins, is 79 today, still has that voice and presence, and is still the lovely lady Stephen Stills fell madly in love with.
Rita Coolidge, shown here in a 1977 photo with her then-husband Kris Kristofferson, is 73 today. Darn, we really thought these two would last.
Tim McGraw is 51 today. Didn't recognize him without the hat or Faith Hill, did you? (They DO seem to be lasting, and we like that about them.)
