My column for June 2018 ~ Bruce Wasenius
Closing in on the midway point of the year time continues to rocket past. Thinking about the years in radio before moving to North Iowa 45 plus years ago especially the time I was on the air in the Twin Cities.
There was always something going on every night. I was in my mid 20's and living near my old friends and jumping on the freeway to whatever it might be.
The reason I bring this up is to show what aging and not driving in that traffic can affect you.
The city I grew up in, when to school in, and worked in has changed. A lot of the old neighborhoods and businesses are still where they were 50 years ago but the freeways and entrances and exits have morphed and the volume of traffic has quadrupled at least.
I hate to think I have become the old guy who doesn't want to leave home. It's not that I don't want to but I'm a really good passenger and my wife doesn't mind driving which has enabled me to ride in the front right seat.
Not to say I haven't been there driving but only to South Minneapolis and I'm sure I will again this summer.
School is out and with the youngest graduating this weekend it will be a happy party with family and friends including my 102 year old Aunt Helen she gives me hope (my siblings are in their 80's).
Go somewhere you haven't been before do something different or out of the ordinary and have some fun.
I hope the month is kind to you.
Back in July as far as I know. (Bruce!! Of course you will be!! -ed.)
