PGI Fireworks Convention In Mason City This Weekend


The Pyrotechnics Guild International, Inc., or PGI, will host its annual “Thunder and Fire” convention at the North Iowa Events Center, 3700 Fourth St. SW, Mason City, from Aug. 4-10 with three evenings of public fireworks displays. The public fireworks displays, showcasing ground and aerial pyrotechnics choreographed with music and special effects, will be held at dusk on Sunday, Aug. 5; Tuesday, Aug. 7; and Friday, Aug. 10, weather permitting. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets for the displays cost $20 and can be purchased at the Mason City Visitor Center and the North Iowa Events Center. The event draws between 2,000 and 5,000 members from across the U.S. and world annually, but the public displays, especially on Friday can draw twice as many.
