State Mixology Championships
Help decide who will win the People’s Choice award at the State Mixology Championships event, where competitors will create cocktails for you to sample so you can cast your vote for your favorite. Pufferbilly Days
Head to Boone for one of the biggest celebrations in Iowa, Pufferbilly Days, with more than 30,000 in attendance each year.
Known for being a railroad town, Boone boasts this huge familyfriendly festival the first weekend after Labor Day in its downtown district, 9th and Story Streets. Enjoy a BBQ contest, craft fair, golf outing, parade, car show, softball tournament, disc golf tournament, 5K/10K run, horseshoe tournament, pet show, bike ride, photo contest and much more. Fall Antique Jamboree
Browse treasures from the past when more than 100 antique dealers from across the Midwest display their furniture, primitives, vintage clothing, architectural relics, jewelry, linens and quilts, glassware, stoneware, textiles, toys and more. Vendors will sell food on site. The Fall Antique Jamboree will be held, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 5th Street area of Historic Valley Junction in West Des Moines.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels & The Pork Tornadoes Des Moines band Dirty Rotten Scoundrels revives the oldies, settling in the years between 1950-69.
Take a nostalgic trip back to the beginnings of rock and roll when Dirty Rotten Scoundrels play at Simon Estes Amphitheater in a Nitefall on the River Event. They’re joined by Midwest party band The Pork Tornadoes and Tony and Jerry from Pianopalooza. 7 p.m. 75 E. Locust St. Tickets are $15-$20 at nitefalldsm.

World Food & Music Festival
Celebrate culinary traditions from all over the world, as well as diverse music and entertainment at the World Food & Music Festival, held on the Court Avenue Bridge in downtown Des Moines. The three-day event includes food vendors, cooking demonstrations, international and craft beers, cocktails and wine. Enjoy live entertainment, cultural experiences, Kids’ Chocolate Adventure, free salsa dance lessons and more.

An Evening with Ira Glass
Spend an evening with the host and creator of the public radio program “This American Life” when he comes to Hoyt Sherman Place. The radio show has been among the most popular in the world, with 2.2 million listeners tuning in and another 2.2 million downloading each podcast. ZZ Top
The legendary trio ZZ Top, two with the iconic long beards and hats, have been rocking together for 40 years now. They’ve sold more than 50 million albums and are Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees.
